After a clean-up in my room recently, I unearthed a lost memory card filled with photos from things i did over the summer - (some which i'd almost forgot I'd done) and one of those things was London Wine Week. Some people may be familiar with London Cocktail Week and wine week is very much in the same vain. Restaurants, bars and wine merchants across London put on various activities to celebrate wine and give consumers a chance to try out different varieties in a fun, interactive and social way.
To get a taste of the action, I headed down to Harvey Nichols Fifth Floor Restaurant for their wine and food tasting session. The chefs created a menu with a choice of three dishes, which were paired with three wines. I opted for the poached and roasted poussin, purple potatoes, mangetout, yellow beans and croquette which was delicious. The different cooking styles of the poussin worked perfectly together and it was the first time i'd tried purple potatoes which i loved! To pair with my poussin, I had the mixed wine flight comprised of prosecco, a new Zealand sauvignon blanc and my personal favourite of the evening a new Zealand shiraz.
London Wine Week will surely be back next year so if I hear of any exciting news or events I will keep you posted - hopefully on time this year!
PS - If anyone London based fancies meeting up for a glass of wine, leave me a comment below! I'd love to get to know some more bloggers :) x
