    ALL THE CHEESE AT PULIA, LONDON BRIDGE

    CHEESUS-FLIPPING-CHRIST - I'd say that's a fairly appropriate way to introduce my experience trying out the recently launched brunch at Pulia.

    Open since early last year, Pulia is nestled away in the shadows of the foodie haven that is Borough Market. I'd seen several people championing Pulia for having the 'best burrata in London' so when I got the email inviting me down to try their brunch menu, I knew I had to hot-step it there.
    Now the invitation had stated that there would be an Apulian-style feast and they certainly weren't kidding. The team pulled out all the stops to give us a taste of some of the most delicious dishes that the Southern Italian region has to offer.

    With coffees, prosecco and chit chat with my fellow bloggers firmly underway, George and his team eased us into proceedings with a round of Pulia taralli and olives (£4.95)....
    ...followed by trays of topped frisella, a traditional bread native to the Italian region of Pulia. They have three on the menu so naturally we tried them all - from the burrata and tuna, aubergine and burrata through to the stunning capocollo ham and aubergine (£15 for all 3).
    Next came a mixed assortment of panzerotti e rustici (£12 for 4 pieces), little pastry parcels filled with onion and black olives which were gorgeous. They remind me of mini calzone pizzas and the flavour was just incredible, they certainly didn't stick around for too long...
    Nor did the deliciously flaky croissants which came with your choice of jams or stuffed with generous helpings of rich cured-ham and creamy  seamorza cheese. (£3.90)
    More plates pilled high with cured meats and focaccia made their way to the table, along with the most incredible slow cooked cherry tomatoes I have ever eaten...
    Another firm favourite was the spinach and mozzarella omelette (£7.25) served on yet more delicious home-made bread! Light, buttery and packed with cheese and spinach - way better than any omelette I've made at home.
    The smoked salmon with scrambled eggs (£12.95) was a welcome reprieve from all the carbs which had been heading our way.

    Salmon & eggs is one of my all-time favourite breakfasts and it packs a pretty healthy punch with all the protein, omega-3 and good fats (let's just not think about the stick of butter that I imagine is hiding in those lovely fluffy eggs).
    Now the main event - and the thing we all came here for - was the buratta. This isn't just any burrata though, this was - hand-crafted by a specially flown-in master apulian cheesemaker burrata.

    They serve it here with seasonal fruits, figs in our case, and I can assure you that all those whispers of 'best burrata in London' were not wrong. It was creamy. It was indulgent. It was pure food-porn bliss and the best thing was that we got to watch it being made right in front of us.

    Surely there can't be more food, I hear you ask. I know, I ask myself the same but it kept on coming. By this point I was just eating for the sake of eating but I strived on regardless, so as not to offend our lovely hosts of course. 

    The dessert course brought a close to the gluttony of the day in the form of a delicious lemon custard and amarena 'pasticciotti' which came liberally doused in the gorgeous and very tasty Mandarin olive oil (£3) and some chocolate and hazlenut pasticciotti which were so good I squirrelled some away in my handbag
    I really can't fault anything about my meal at Pulia. The hospitality, atmosphere and food were all exceptional and really transported you over to Italy for a taste of that unbeatable culture.

    I highly recommend that you head down there for the brunch menu - but I've been assured Pulia is superb at any time of the day. As long as you order that burrata, you'll have an amazing meal and after being billed as the best in London, you'd be a little silly not to!
