    TEQUILLA AND TACOS AT PEYOTITO, NOTTING HILL

    If you asked me to name my favourite cuisine, hands down I'd say Mexican.

    I basically lived off fajitas, burritos and nachos when I was at Uni (which probably explains the rapid weight gain while I was there) BUT it's a real struggle to name you a decent Mexican restaurant in the UK.

    And a lot of that is down to the fact that we don't really do proper Mexican here. Don't get me wrong, I love a good Tex-Mex but there's so more to authentic Mexican cooking.
    Well in step: Peyotito - because they've got it spot on.
    Tucked away behind Portobello Market, they're rustling up the perfect blend of modern Mexican cooking and ultra-fresh cocktails...

    Tequilla is the star of the show - and not just any tequila at that. At the moment they're doing some really exciting stuff with Casamigos, a tequila created and (until very recently) owned by none other than George Clooney!

    It's currently being using to put a new twist on their incredible margaritas - a smokey blend of Mezcal, Casamigos Tequilla and lime. What better way to celebrate National Tequilla Month?

    You can also tuck into a special Tequilla and Taco menu so make sure you order yourself a margarita and some creamy guac and settle in for the feast ahead...
    Starting with the tostada de atun - homemade tostadas topped with thinly sliced yellowfin tuna, salsa macha and guacamole.
    All the tostadas are made by hand, everyday, so they're super fresh! Plus, the salsas and guacamoles are made from scratch using imported Mexican chiles and the freshest avocado available. 
    The taco de res is topped with braised beef, serrano chile, salsa verde and wrapped with a baby gem lettuce leaf. Light, fragrant and packed full of flavour. 
    Next be sure to try the trio of flour and corn tacos. 

    You've got the Taco de barbacoa - a 24 hour braised lamb version with a lightly charred salsa tatemada and the taco al pastor - grilled chicken with homemade adobo seasoning topped with pineapple and white bean puree.
    followed by an incredible fish taco, the Taco de pescado, packed with grilled sea bream, pickled red onion and salsa verde for a real citrus kick. 
    Time for another of those cocktails before you tuck into your pudding...
    For dessert, the marscapone cheesecake is an absolute dream. Crumbly, biscuit base and silky smooth marscapone topped with a cactus fig compote, vanilla ice cream and berries. I could've eaten three. 
    You'll also want to order the bunuelos - crisp Mexican fritter served with fruity seasonal sorbet.
    A fusion of crunchy, soft, hot and cool textures which excites the palate and is the perfect way to round off an epic Mexican feast. 
    You've still got a little more time to celebrate National Tequilla Month with Peyotito and Casamigos down at the restaurant BUT I promise you, this place is definitely one to add to your 'must-go' list at any time of the year!
